Nokia et Yahoo! annoncent leur partenariat stratégique

Nokia et Yahoo! viennent tout juste d’annoncer un partenariat stratégique. Il s’agit d’une décision logique qui va dans le sens de l’utilisateur. Le but est d’offrir

Nokia devient le fournisseur officiel et exclusif de services de cartes, avec Ovi Maps. De son côté, Yahoo! deviendra l’opérateur des services Ovi Mail et Ovi Chat.

Le partenariat est logique, Nokia devient un leader dans la navigation GPS sur mobile, Yahoo! possède son expertise dans l’e-mail et la messagerie instantanée.

L’implémentation a déjà commencé, dans certaines zones du monde (apparition 2e moitié de l’année 2010). Il faudra attendre l’année prochaine pour voir l’ensemble du partenariat se mettre en place de façon complète.

Les marques ne changeront pas, elles restent les mêmes, il s’agit uniquement d’un partenariat qui, par exemple, affichera Ovi Maps dans les sections « yahoo maps » des services Yahoo!.

Yahoo! va s’occuper de gérer les coulisses de Ovi Mail, Nokia continuera de gérer les clients mobiles.

NEW YORK, May 24, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Today, Yahoo! (NASDAQ:YHOO) and Nokia (NYSE:NOK), announced a worldwide strategic alliance to extend the reach of their industry leading online services and offer people rich experiences that keep them connected to their world and the world around them.

Building on more than five years of collaboration, Nokia and Yahoo! (R) will leverage each others’ strengths in e-mail, instant messaging and maps and navigation services, to provide consumers with access to world-class experiences on both PC and mobile devices.

 

As part of the alliance:

Nokia will be the exclusive, global provider of Yahoo!’s maps and navigation services, integrating Ovi Maps across Yahoo! properties, branded as « powered by Ovi. »

Yahoo! will become the exclusive, global provider of Nokia’s Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat services branded as « Ovi Mail / Ovi Chat powered by Yahoo! »

Nokia and Yahoo! plan to work on ID federation between their services, beginning by making it easy for people to use their Ovi user IDs across select Yahoo! properties to easily access the online content and services they need.
